DECODE 2nd Summer School

Writer: DECODEDECODE

The DECODE project recently held its 2nd Summer School in Athens, Greece, hosted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) from October 21-24, 2024. This event, part of DECODE’s commitment to training and development, provided a unique and immersive experience for the project’s ESRs in the fields of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) research, industry-relevant skills, and innovation.

Over these four days, our students engaged in intensive training sessions on critical topics that shape PAD research and patient care. Some of the keynote lectures and training activities included:

  • Incidence and Risk Factors of PAD

  • Prognosis and Quality of Life among PAD Patients

  • Novel Biomarkers for PAD Diagnosis

  • PAD Prevention

  • The Burden and Impact of New Interventional Technologies on Health Systems

  • Needed Skills in Industry

Additionally, the Summer School hosted a hackathon, challenging ESRs to collaboratively address real-world issues in PAD care. Mock interviews were also organized, offering ESRs a valuable opportunity to practice and refine their industry engagement and communication skills.
